7 Myths Boycotting your Diet

dietWhen it comes to food, especially the care with food, there are many theories that continue to condition the diet of some people.

But most of these theories are nothing more than myths.

You no longer have to run away from carbohydrates like the plague, to sink in liters of water a day or discover the light products to achieve weight loss. Science lays down some ideas that have been, for years, boycotting our diet.

Check out seven myths related to food:

1 – Carbohydrates after 18h are fattening

As our body has no clock, it has no idea whether they are 1pm, 4pm or 6pm, which means that the carbohydrates you eat at 20h will not necessarily turn into fat.

It depends more on the type of carbohydrates or the type of life you lead. It is very likely that a cake turns into fat but it does that if you eat at 8 am, 4pm or 11pm.

And even if you have a healthy diet, it is likely that a meal (whether that time is taken) ‘weigh’ more if you don’t have some kind of physical activity.

2 – Light foods are the best friends of a diet

diet

Not always! Just because a product bring the word ‘light’ on its label does not mean you can eat it and that has zero calories.

It is best to see the label. Many of the products that are ‘light’ have their grease removal, but how this nutrient is very important for the taste of a food, what happens is that when removing the fat the product is tasteless.

And no one likes to eat the card that has very good aspect. What happens next? To give more flavor, sugar is added (with various names, fructose, sucrose, dextrose, maltose, corn syrup …) and salt.

So do not be surprised if the pointer in your balance insists on staying in the same place even if only eat food ‘light’.

3 -Exclusion of eggs because of the risk of cholesterol

The exclusion of eggs because of cholesterol risk is another theory that makes no sense, since the egg – and other ‘fatty’ food – have what we called good fat and essential for the proper functioning of the body.

4 – The more exercise you do, the more you can eat

diet

Kind of … It is true that exercise burns calories and the metabolism speeds up, but that does not mean you can spend the your day eating cakes.

You have to sweat a lot to lose 100 calories! If you think a custard tart has nearly 300kcal, to ‘annihilate’ those calories you have to jump rope for 30 minutes … It is not easy!

To lose a kilo is necessary to eliminate 7700 calories per week, which is equivalent to 1100 per day.

Make exercise, yes, but if you want to lose weight restricts to the simple carbohydrates, whether to keep … you have to control the ‘rubbish’!

5 – Eating small quantities many times during the day

Although it is one of the techniques most recommended by nutritionists, eat small amounts often during the day does not help to lose weight.

Eat small amounts throughout the day helps to speed up metabolism, but does not directly interfere with weight loss and can, however, help control weight, since the person never gets ‘hungry’.

6 – Eat bread

dietAnother ‘bogeyman’ of the diet is bread, seen by many as the main cause of abdominal bloating.

With the exception of celiacs and people with sensitivity to gluten, the bread is not the main cause of the swelling, unless consumed in an exaggerated way, because the brown bread ( strong fiber) can be an ally of reduction abdominal swelling.

7 -I have to drink 2L of water to hydrate myself

We’ve been following these rules for years, but the truth is that the water that we ingest may vary from individual to individual.

Think like your stomach is roughly the size of your fist, you have to go to the toilet 15 to 15 minutes if you are constantly drinking water.

In addition to not being practical, its overloading the kidneys, and thus the body does not have time to ‘save’ the vitamins and minerals.

It is clear that drinking water is really important, but the way it enters our body also counts, therefore, vegetable soups, cucumber salad and watermelon that you eat throughout the day also contain water that your body will thank you for.
